Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Vegas.... along comes G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P. Band with “Back From The Dead”. Deftly combining the very best (and worst) of the “King of Rock”, Elvis Presley and self-professed “King of Punk” G.G. Allin into a smash up, punk rock Elvis tribute the world has never before witnessed. G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P. Band will seriously rock you silly with their explosive, gut-wrenching blend of outrageously tight, punk infused covers of your favorite Elvis classics that will leave you balled up on the bathroom floor choking on your own vomit in hysterics. Featuring some of “Nardcore’s” finest including members of NOFX, Agression, Bad Samaritans, Ill Repute, Stalag 13 & Dr. Know. This exclusive scratch n’ sniff limited premiere edition also includes the controversial never-before-seen DVD exposé with shocking videos, rare interviews, photos, extras and special features.
This album is like a combination between Manic Hispanic and the Brats on the Beat Ramones tribute. G.G. Elvis and company are members of Stalag 13, NOFX, Aggression, Dr. Know, the Bad Samaritans and Jughead’s Revenge playing punk rock versions of Elvis songs. But, it is most definitely not Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies. Like Manic Hispanic, punk rock classics are often infused to the well know tracks. In this case, bits of the Ramones, Black Flag, and TSOL grace these tracks in addition to several others.
The Elvis tracks are well known. “Viva Las Vegas”, “In The Ghetto” and “Love Me Tender” are just three of the thirteen tracks found on the cd. The album is fun, but I have to admit, the bands I mentioned previously, like Me First and Manic Hispanic, are somewhat superior to these guys. But that said, those are essentially full time bands (at least, they have been together for a long time), where I do not believe these guys have the same kind of background.
The album also has a bonus DVD included, which features some fun, but really badly made videos. They are the kind of thing you watch as soon as you get it, but never pull out again. The best bit is the history of the band. The actually filmed a back story to the band and it is a goof. It is badly filmed, the writing is questionable, and the acting is atrocious. Basically, it is perfect.
As punk rock Elvis projects go, I’m not really a fan. I’m not really an Elvis fan, so that doesn’t help. But if you are into it, I would still say El Vez is the way to go, but if you want something a little more traditionally punk rock, G.G. Elvis and the TCP Band is for you.

G.G. Elvis and the TCP Band!
Punk rock super group answer our questions whilst giving two fingers to Amy Winehouse & loving our questions…
Mental Records is pleased to announce the release of G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P. Band “Back From The Dead” for worldwide distribution on June 24, 2008. This utterly insane group of comedic mutha’ fuckers manically combines the very best (and worst) of the “King of Rock” Elvis Presley and self-professed “King of Punk” G.G. Allin into a smash up punk rock Elvis tribute the likes of which the world has never seen. We’re talkin’ tight comedy-fused high-intensity music, masterfully mixed with well-known punk rock cover songs of Elvis classics. So in other words… PARTY! Hailing from Oxnard, California (Ventura County just north of L.A.) the band features some of the “Nardcore” nest including members of NOFX, Agression, Bad Samaritans, Stalag 13 & Dr. Know.
lead vocalist Eric Lara (Bad Samaritans), legendary punk beat-master Larry White (Agression, Stalag 13 & Dr. Know), bass-man George “Horhay” Snow (Bad Samaritans and Jughead’s Revenge), punk luminary Dave Cassillas (NOFX, Stalag 13 & Agression), and back up singer “Little Sister” Sara Jo Merin, After only three hasty rehearsals, G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P. Band made their live debut in Las Vegas at the infamous BYO Records sponsored Punk Rock Bowling Tournament, and the overly enthusiastic crowd was all shook the fuck up! Since that fateful day, the band has played a many-a-packed house and there ain’t no turnin’ back. “Back From The Dead”, their debut, limited edition scratch n’ sniff release, was recorded at 60 Psycho Hum Recording
Studios in Medford, Oregon and was produced by Mental Records co-owner, Doug Hill. It includes the controversial never-before-seen DVD exposé with shocking videos, rare interviews, photos, extras and special features. This explosive, gut-wrenching blend of outrageously tight punk infused Elvis classics will leave many a man balled up on the bathroom floor, hysterically choking on his own vomit and begging for more. Viva la G.G. Elvis!
Eric aka GG Elvis - Vocals:
How are you? Where does this Q&A find you?
Eric: I am swell and this finds me eating a hoagie typing this to you.
How did the recording sessions for your new release go?
Eric: It went really well. The label set us up with a great producer (Doug Hill) and it was blast working with him.
What goals did you set yourself before you started recording?
Eric: My only goal was to finish the recording in one piece
What do you feel are your own limitations when it comes to creating/writing music?
Eric: I have adhd and my mind sometimes wanders. What was the question?
Tell us 3 of your favourite songs from your career and the inspiration behind them?
Eric: Hmm. This question would imply that I have some sort of talent which is not the case.
Tell us about your worst live show yet?
Eric: Honestly they all have been fun. One time we almost fought some nazi’s that were messing with Dave’s (Elvis Vicious) girlfriend. That would have been wacky fighting in our Elvis garb.
What are the bands plans for the rest of the year?
Eric: This summer we go into the studio again for the 2nd album with Mental Records. We are going to tour Europe in Sept. We are hoping to go to Japan soon. I am a small man so I yearn to go somewhere where I would be tall.
How would you describe your own/bands sound, or what do you hate being labelled as?
Eric: We are a punk rock tribute to Elvis. We mix classic punk songs with classics from the King.
Who is currently moving you musically at the moment?
Eric: Against Me. Radiohead. Carpenters. Barry White. Cher.
What album changed your life and why?
Eric: The soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. It told the world it was okay to dance
Your proudest achievement so far?
Eric: This interview of course
If you could erase one single/album from history (your own or someone else's) which would it be and why?
Eric: Erase Amy Winehouse.
How do you see yourself altering the band and your sound in the future? is there anything you wish to attempt in the future that's inspiring you right now?
Eric: I would like to see us play while suspended in the air. Flying around the stage like beautiful Elvis like doves.
A rumour you'd like to start about yourself, or one you'd like stopped?
Eric: I would there to be a rumour that I have a twelve inch penis and can last for hours with a woman and have the rumour stopped that my penis an inch long and I can only last a minute with a woman
What drives you & What are your fears?
Eric: Hope and inspiration drives me. I am scared of birds, empty plates of food and Richard Simmons
The revolution comes, who would you like to be first against the wall (and if you're feeling particularly bitchy, a second, third, fourth and so on...)?
Eric: George W., Dick Cheney and all the rest of his staff
Best piece of advice you'd give to aspiring musicians, or the best piece of advice you were given when you started?
Eric: Don’t break up. Your time will come.
If you're in a car going at the speed of light, and someone turns the headlamps on, would they do anything?
Eric: That is an offensive question that I refuse to answer

G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P Band: Back From the Dead
All I can say is, unfuckingbelievable. The rise of this band has been and is continuing to be phenomenal. G.G. Elvis was created as an homage to the "King of Punk", G.G. Allin and of course, The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis. T.C.P. stands for "Taking Care of Punk". "Back From the Dead" is the CD/DVD they recorded for Medford, Oregon's Mental Records in 3 crazy days.
I believe Elvis would dig these guys very much by the way they've punked up his songs, making them 'current' and also the outrageous shows they put on. They just gained a shitload of new fans and received offers from well-known bands to tour with them on the basis of their performance in Austin, Texas for the SXWX tour. They shock, they render audiences bug-eyed and their spirits are so high, the music so good, they turn most into new die-hard fans. They've been invited back next year.
This isn't a band of young kids just getting started. These are punk vets with impressive credentials. I've known all of them except the singer, G.G. Elvis (Eric Lara of the Bad Samaritans) and bass player Elvis Fitty Sixxx (Horay from Jugheads Revenge and Bad Samaritans), both from LA. I don't know anything about backup singer Little Sister (Sara) The ones I've had the opportunity to know and watch grow are all from the Nardcore scene. Drummer Has-Been Elvis (Larry White) drummed for Agression and Stalag 13. Lead Guitarist Elvis Vicious (Dave Casillas) played for Stalag 13 and NOFX and guitarist/vocalist Elvis of Nazareth (Tony Cortez) was/is guitarist for Ill Repute. From what I gather, they're having more fun doing this than anything ever before. I don't think they had a clue they'd get as big as they're getting this fast. This all began as just something to have fun with.
I have a feeling this video is from "Back From the Dead". There isn't one from SXWX. I asked two of them for crazy road stories and hotel incidents during the tour and SXWX and and was disappointed they didn't have any, but at the same time thinking it was cool they'd moved past the let's-get-fucked-up-and-raise-hell stage. Too old? That was the reason, yet they perform like they're kids. I also found out they didn't play the shows they were going to as Has-Been was back at work because the writer's strike was over and that cut their time short.

Check out this review from Mental Records
:Holy Shit! What else can be said about the SXSW Music Festival in Austin TX? WOW!! The Mental Records team has just dragged its collective ass back into the office today and is attempting to recover from 7 days of high spirits and hellaciously great music. There were several major highlights of the week - ahhh hell, now that I really think about it about half a dozen things that stick out from the fog of my memory. But the main one being the G.G. ELVIS showcase at the RED 7 club, once again leaving all that witnessed the unforgettable show somewhere between mortified (What did he do with that drumstick?!?!) and completely blown away by the sheer intensity, leaving its unwary audience, undoubtedly, fans for life. G.G Elvis took the stage in the final slot of the evening, sometime after 1 am, and blew the proverbial doors off the place. And Austin will never be the same.
After the show the cadre of new die hard fans lined up in droves to get their hands on the limited pre-release copies of the controversial “Back From the Dead” CD/DVD combo disc that are currently available exclusively at their live shows only.
"Back From The Dead" will be in stores everywhere June 24, 2008. Initial pressings include a controversial DVD and a scratch 'n sniff picture, according to their label and the fantastic news a European tour is in the works. They'd better come to Portugal!
Visit their MySpace for music, videos and pictures and the official site which has even more, including bios of the members. Now to wait for my copy of "Back From the Dead" which is winging its way from California.
Thanks and rock out with yer cock out!!! My friends just saw you in Austin, I think they are still hungover!

G. G. Elvis And The TCP band are quite the multimedia event. Who can resist a band that performs Elvis covers? Who can resist a band that even dresses a la Elvis? Well how about a band that does all of the above, and is rooted in the punk genre?
Sometimes the cover players do it better than the original artist. A good example of that is the song That’s Alright Mama, Compare the original to G.G.Elvis, which one do you prefer?

"Back From The Dead: A Punk Elvis Tribute"
Mental Records
AUGUSTA, GA - What do you get when you mix classic punk tunes with Elvis Presley? You get G. G. Elvis and the TCP Band. Packing 13 Vegas-era Elvis cover tunes onto one record, Back From the Dead proudly plays each in the venomous style of legendary rock ‘n’ roll terror G. G. Allin.
Clever and funny, G. G. Elvis and the TCP Band offer a neat little concept album, maybe not something you listen to regularly, but still something you bring out of the closet for your friends to hear every once in a while before placing it back beside your Quiet Riot records.
Other than the hilarious pictures from the insert booklet and the DVD, the highlight of the album is how this band blends such classics as “Viva Las Vegas” with “Six Pack” by Black Flag and “Suspicious Minds” with “Holidays in the Sun” by the Sex Pistols, just to name a few.
Released by seasoned members of such Punk bands as NOFX and Ill Repute, this comedy album serves up cheap laughs to a small demographic of die hard Elvis fans and gritty fans of the late G.G. Allin and the Murder Junkies.
G.G. Elvis and the T.C.P. Band have been invited to tear up SXSW! On Saturday, March 15th, G.G. and the boys will be finishing up a night of mayhem at Red 7. Also playing are: the Lower Class Brats, the Horrorpops, the Nekromantix, Roger Miret and the Disasters, Channel 3, the Krum Bums, the Heart Attacks, and Steve E Nix and the Cute Lepers.
